BCK - March 21, 2019

Fort Worth, Texas sixteen-year-old Haley Taylor Schlitz and her thirteen-year-old brother, Ian Taylor Schlitz, are unquestionably living examples of being young, black, and truly gifted. The homeschooled teenagers are on the way to law school and to enjoying the college-life, respectively.

Schlitz was recently accepted into the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, after having mastered Texas Woman’s University.

“As a homeschooling family, my mother was determined to create an educational environment for each of us that allowed us to grow at our own speed. She built an entire curriculum based on our likes and core skills. We did everything,” Haley explained to Blavity.com. “We did math and science, she taught a lot of that since she has a B.S. in chemistry, and we did a lot of extracurricular activities.”
